The upcoming Freddie Mercury biopic has hit another snag as director Dexter Fletcher has reportedly quit over creative differences.

Producer Graham King and Fletcher, who previously helmed 2012's Wild Bill and last year's Sunshine on Leith, clashed over their visions for the movie.

Sasha Baron Cohen, the actor originally slated to portray Mercury, likewise exited the film months ago because he and Queen's surviving members disagreed on key creative points, although guitarist Brian May has attributed Cohen's departure to a fear that audiences wouldn't buy him as Mercury.

Ben Whishaw is still on tap to play Mercury, with filming scheduled to begin this summer.
