Third Eye Blind Pay Tribute To Eddie Van Halen During Drive-In Concert

Third Eye Blind is one of many bands that's opted to play drive-in concerts since the pandemic hit. On Friday (October 16), they opened their socially distanced show in Del Mar, California with a cover of Van Halen's "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love" to honor the late Eddie Van Halen.

3EB's version of the 1978 hit stayed true to the original and was a song the band often played during soundchecks. "The mischief, the brilliance, and the bright spark of excitement and danger that happened when EVH had a guitar in his hands was a miracle that thrilled all of us," they wrote on Instagram after his death. "We loved playing Ain’t Talkin Bout Love at sound check just to visit a bit of his glory. The world will be a little less bright without him."

Social media swarmed with tributes after news of EVH's passing broke on October 6, with family, band members, and other rock greats reminiscing about the great times they shared with the legendary guitarist; however, because live music has virtually been halted, the opportunity for live tributes have been few and far between, making this cover even more special.
