ROLLING STONES: It's Actually Two More With Charlie
The Rolling Stones' new album, Foreign Tongues, contains one song featuring their late drummer Charlie Watts -- "Hit Me in the Head." But, if you purchase the album through iTunes, you get a second, the bonus track "Bad Luck Hideaway," a country-flavored tune that has Mick Jagger and Keith Richards trading off on vocals. (See both songs below.) It was recorded on December 9th, 2015 at Mark Knopfler's British Grove Studios in London during the sessions that produced their 2016 album of blues covers, Blue & Lonesome. The track also features Benmont Tench from Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers on organ and piano.
Guitarist Ronnie Wood noted the song on one of his set list paintings from that time, writing, "At 6:30 they cut their first track for 82 years!!" It's not known if he was referring to the song listed above what he wrote, "Get Out of My Way," or "Bad Luck Hideaway," which was written below. Charlie Watts died on August 24th, 2021 from cancer at 80.
ROLLING STONES: Why Foreign Tongues?
The Rolling Stones chose the title of their new album, Foreign Tongues, from a lyric in the lead track, "Rough and Twisted" -- “Why don’t you teach me/ Teach me all those foreign tongues?” -- which Keith Richards says, "just seemed to step out." "There's been a lot of UFO sightings lately, so I thought it might be appropriate. But that aside, phrases just hit you, and after all, I don't know, there's that sense that we're kind of living with the 'Tower of Babel' at the moment, you know, with our toys and our smart-this and smart-that and I-that. So, I suppose
Foreign Tongues is like just about the way we feel about the state of communication these days."
And for guitarist Ronnie Wood, he sees Foreign Tongues as a direct correlation to their last album, 2023's Hackney Diamonds. "Hackney Diamonds was breaking the ice, and Foreign Tongues is the flow that comes from it, you know. A natural flow and cohesion, even though the tracks are all kind of different, there's a definite flow going on there of an album-like flavor -- which I love because the Stones have always had that. There was a flavor from Beggars Banquet album. A flavor of Sticky Fingers. Flavors, you know." Foreign Tongues contains 14 tracks, and if you purchase it through iTunes you get the bonus track, "Bad Luck Hideaway." PHIL COLLINS: 45 Years of His Face
Phil Collins is celebrating the 45th anniversary of his debut album, 1981's Face Value, by reissuing it as a deluxe vinyl box set. Set for release on September 18th, it contains the original album, which was half-speed remastered at Abbey Road Studios, rare and unreleased live recordings, demos and outtakes, and liner notes featuring a new interview with Collins. Among the bonus tracks are demos of 10 of the album's 13 songs, and live cuts of:
·"In the Air Tonight" - from The Secret Policeman’s Other Ball
·"The Roof Is Leaking" - The Secret Policeman’s Other Ball
·"This Must Be Love" - 1985 at Irvine Meadows in Irvine, California (previously unreleased)

There is also an extended version of "In the Air Tonight," an outtake of his cover of The Beatles' "Tomorrow Never Knows," the full version of "Over the Rainbow," and an alternate version of "The Roof Is Leaking." And, with this announcement comes the first digital single, the previously unreleased performance of “You Know What I Mean” (Live, Perkins Palace 1982), which is on YouTube. Face Value, featuring brand new Dolby Atmos, 5.1 and stereo mixes of the album by Steven Wilson, with the Atmos also available digitally. Phil Collins will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for his solo work on November 14th in Los Angeles. He was previously inducted with Genesis in 2010.
ERIC CLAPTON: At the Genesis of the Crossroads
When Phil Collins was going through his addiction to alcohol following the breakdown of his third marriage and subsequent divorce in 2006, his friend Eric Clapton convinced him to check into Crossroads Centre, the rehab facility he founded on the Caribbean island of Antigua. "It's still run on old-school methods. It's not a spa. It's not a health club. It's a 12-Step Program treatment center, old school and there are very few of them left. And that's the system that's kept me sober. So, when I became a member of that community and realized that was my chief responsibility everything else seemed to click into place and my life became more manageable, you know." Collins was scheduled to be there for six weeks, but left after a month due to a tour he booked. He tells MOJO magazine, "The nurse who took me to the airport gave me a note and told me to read it on the plane. It said, 'If you have a drink, you will die. And it’s terrible to say, but I had a glass of wine."
Fortunately, Collins overcame his addiction, writing in his 2016 autobiography Not Dead Yet, "It took me until the age of 55 to become an alcoholic. I got through the heady 1960s, the trippy 1970s, the imperial 1980s, the busy 1990s. I was retired, content, and then I fell. Because I suddenly had too much time on my hands. "But it was something I lived through, and I was lucky to live through it and get through it. I was very close to dying." Phil Collins, alive and in a little better shape than he's been in for quite a while, will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for his solo work on November 14th in Los Angeles. He was inducted as a member of Genesis in 2010.
Billy Joel Reveals Why He Stopped Writing Music
Billy Joel is revealing why he stopped writing music. During a conversation with YouTube personality Rick Beato, the musician said he felt like he "was done" when he finished writing "River of Dreams."He added that he told himself "you know what? The Beatles had twelve albums" and that was enough for him. He also admitted that he didn't want to "dilute" his legacy. Joel stopped making rock music after the aforementioned album.

Jack White's Daughter Joins Him On Stage To Play Bass
Jack White made his New York City concert a family affair. During the first of two shows at the Brooklyn Paramount on Saturday, the "Seven Nation Army" rocker brought out his daughter Scarlett to play bass on the White Stripes songs "Cannon" and "Black Math."
White loaded the setlist with songs from his new solo album, "Frozen Charlotte," which dropped Friday, along with White Stripes classics like "Hotel Yorba" and "Icky Thump," closing the night with "Seven Nation Army." White is known for his no-setlist rule, choosing songs on the fly. Scarlett, his daughter with ex-wife Karen Elson, has joined him onstage before. Lenny Kravitz Says There's A Reason He Works Out In Leather Pants
Lenny Kravitz is revealing why he works out in leather pants. In a published interview with Men's Health, the singer said "I perform on stage in leather, denim, so those are the pants I wear to train." He added, "it also means I can fit in a workout anytime, anywhere," Elsewhere in the interview, Kravitz joked that he can always tell if he's in shape by the way his pants fit. The musician said "if my pants are a little tight, I know I'm getting out of shape."

The four members of KISS – Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer – will take part in the tribute to Ace Frehley on November 14th as part of their Kiss Kruise: Land-Locked in Vegas event. Each member has personally selected and will individually perform a song backed by the Ace Frehley Band. Frehley, their original guitarist, died last October following a fall at home.
Ann Wilson and her band, Tripsitter, will do three shows in Japan in November – the 17th in Tokyo, 19th in Osaka, and the 20th in Yokohama. Ann starts her U.S. tour on September 10th in Clearwater, Florida. In other news, Ann is Billy Corgan’s guest on his podcast, The Magnificent Others.
Bryan Adams will tour Australia and New Zealand in February and March. Adams starts another run of U.S. dates on July 24th in St. Louis.

Hole has launched official Instagram and TikTok accounts, with a post that has July 24th and a CD emoji in the caption. But it seems like the mystery of the post has already been solved as Interscope announced that a new vinyl reissue of 1994's Live Through This is on the way September 18th. The vinyl was mastered from the album’s original analog master tapes, which were recently rediscovered by Hole guitarist Eric Erlandson.
