A new craft beer to help raise funds for Harvey relief

Beer drinkers of Corpus Christi now have a chance to try a once in a lifetime craft beer, and it's ingredients come from the minds of all the local breweries here in town.

Lorelei Brewing, Lazy Beach Brewing, Rebel Toad Brewing and B & J's Pizza and Brewhouse have come together to start their own fundraiser to help Harvey relief efforts called, Corpus Craft Cares. They have decided to join minds and create a craft beer and all proceeds will go straight to Harvey victims.

Once Hurricane Harvey hit, "it was just a natural effort for us to get together and go, 'what are we going to do as a community to help those that have been so supportive of us for so many years now,'" says Lorelei owner Varian Criser, of the joined forces of these local breweries.

It will be an American Pale Ale, a perfect light blend for everyone but still enough flavor to know it is a craft beer. There will be a release fundraiser at the Alamo Drafthouse in Corpus Christi on September 23, and all profits made from the beer will go straight to the Harvey relief efforts.

The plan is to have enough funds to can the beer and distribute it throughout South Texas in an effort to keep this fundraiser going for months and even years to come.

Criser says, "the people who have gone through this in Rockport and Port Aransas and all the surrounding communities, we want to put together a more long term effort to help them rebuild their communities."

And for those of you that are not beer drinkers, you can still donate money or items to Corpus Craft Cares, as well as donating to the production of this beer so it can be canned and help raise funds for the future of these Harvey victims.

Corpus Craft Cares is also getting you involved in the production, they have an ongoing Facebook poll to help decide the name of the new Harvey relief beer.
